Sharing Web Resources

The website that I chose to follow during this course is “Zero to Three” National Center for Infants, Toddlers, and Families:  http://www.zerotothree.org/.  The area that I chose to search was a section labeled, Care & Education.  When I researched this area, I found articles and information on early care and education with respect to:  Child Care, Family, Friends and Neighbor Care, and School Readiness Interactive.  I chose this particular area of focus because I am currently putting our school curriculum together for the 2015-2016 school year and I was interested in seeing what type on information exist in preparation for school readiness.  There are a lot of different ideas in the early childhood education field about what is means for a child to be ready for school.  I try to utilize resources to aide in my curriculum development to ensure that we hit the mark of what is expected, as-well-as extend ourselves beyond the goals that have been set.

I currently receive the Zero to Three e-newsletters and there was an article that resonates with this week’s topic of equity and excellence in care and education.  The main topic was why and how parents make a decision as to whom they want their children to be around during their developmental stages.  The main reason parents choose, family members, neighbors, or friends, to care for their children, is because they trust them and they feel that they have similar beliefs and morals.  Some other insights that I gained from this website include:  key elements to being able to communicate, effectively, with parents and techniques to building self-esteem in babies from birth to 36 months.
